How it started
In Vancouver, Jamie & Maverick Hatch ran a packed Sunday league for six-plus years — 600+ kids through the gym every week. In Victoria, teachers Derek & Laura Horton built community sport across levels. Same belief: every kid deserves a real place to play. In 2024 they came home and started Vic Volley League — now three programs under one roof: League, Compete, and Beach.
A Common Goal
The youth volleyball in Victoria — a place to learn, play, and compete, where every kid belongs.

Frequently asked questions
Ordered by what families actually ask us most — the schedule, registration, payments, teams, refunds, and how the divisions work.
Each season runs a series of Sundays — same gym, same time each week — with a few off-Sundays around long weekends and holidays, so it isn't always consecutive weeks. Your season's exact dates and any off-weekends are in LeagueApps when you register, and go out in our season emails. When in doubt, email info@vicvolleyleague.ca.
Almost always, yes. Registration runs through LeagueApps and a confirmation lands automatically at sign-up — but it sometimes slips into junk/spam, so check there first. Still can't find it? Email registration@vicvolleyleague.ca with your athlete's name and we'll confirm your spot.
Two ways: credit card through LeagueApps at checkout (a ~3% processing fee applies), or e-transfer to registration@vicvolleyleague.ca with the athlete's name in the memo. Payment is due before the first session; players join the court once payment is received.
You sign up as an individual — no need to bring a team. We build teams from a mix of division, age, and friend requests, and we do our best to honour every request. (Compete works differently — athletes are drafted into four balanced teams of nine.)
Add your athlete to the waitlist right inside the registration form. We contact waitlisted families first when spots open, and we've historically welcomed most waitlisted athletes by adding courts or locations. Get on the list even if it says full.
Completely normal — lots of our athletes juggle other sports and family commitments. Just let your coach or info@vicvolleyleague.ca know. Missing a Sunday or two is fine; your athlete keeps their spot and team and slots right back in the following week.
Yes — we handle cancellations case by case, including injury and medical situations. Email registration@vicvolleyleague.ca with your athlete's name and what's changed. Full terms are on the Refund Policy.
We run three divisions — Junior (Grades 2–5), Intermediate (Grades 5–8), and Senior (Grades 8–12). The grades are a guide, not a gate: register in the division you believe your athlete will best fit. Not sure? Pick your best guess at sign-up; the first couple of Sundays let coaches confirm the right fit.
Almost certainly. The League is our front door — no tryouts, no cuts, no assumption your child has played before. The three streams meet them where they are. And if your athlete already plays club or is heading that way, Compete is the fall block built for that.
Current season fees are shown at checkout on the registration page; a jersey/t-shirt is included. And yes — athletes can join mid-season; we pro-rate the fee for the sessions remaining.
Indoor non-marking court shoes, comfortable athletic clothing, a full water bottle, and knee pads if they like them. We provide every athlete with a Vic Volley jersey — it's included in registration.
Yes — every program is co-ed and open to all genders, Grades 2–12. We don't divide by gender; we group players into divisions by suggested grade.
The League is a Train & Play house league — no tryouts, no cuts, one 90-minute session each Sunday for eight Sundays. Club runs tryouts, selects age-group teams, practises 2–3 times a week, and travels — a much bigger commitment. For club-bound athletes, Compete bridges the gap.
Our core programming is Sundays; we don't run standalone weekday clinics. For summer: Vic Volley Beach is coming soon (4s & 6s on the sand, same all-levels spirit), with 2-v-2 Beach Compete to follow.
Registration windows and season dates are posted on LeagueApps, and we email our mailing list the moment each season opens. Create a LeagueApps account once and you'll have a single login for every program, every season. Go to registration.

Refund policies
The same policy applies across every Vic Volley program. Questions about your registration? Get in touch.
Cancel before a program begins and you can choose either a full credit toward a future Vic Volley program, or a refund to your original payment method minus a 10% administration fee. The card processing fee* charged at payment is non-refundable.
Cancel before 50% of the program is complete and you'll receive a pro-rated refund for the remaining sessions, minus a 10% administration fee. No refunds once a program is more than 50% complete. The card processing fee* is non-refundable.
If a program is suspended or cancelled before its scheduled conclusion, we'll provide a pro-rated refund for the remaining sessions. Fees for unrecoverable costs — coach payments, non-refundable facility rentals, insurance, jerseys, equipment — are non-refundable, including the card processing fee*. If a program is cancelled before its scheduled start, we provide a full refund.
Sessions are only cancelled if we lose access to the facility — if the gym is open, we play. When a session is cancelled for a facility issue outside our control, we make every effort to schedule a make-up; where that's impossible, we'll offer a credit or refund for the missed day(s).
* The card processing fee is the non-refundable transaction fee (approximately 3%) applied by our payment processor at checkout. The amount of any credit or refund is determined by recoverable costs, and a breakdown will be shared with all affected registrants.
